Briarwood Overview
Briarwood, Queens was named after the setting of the area which is wooded and filled with briars.  Briarwood, was sought to be developed by the Briarwood Land Company which could not afford to develop the land, and sold the land off to action.  Later, Briarwood's land was constructed with housing complexes with the intention of  housing UN diplomats, however, there were very few that actually lived there.  Today, Briarwood is essentially residential with a few commercial and shopping areas on Queens Boulevard and on Union Turnpike.

Briarwood is home to a middle class community, in which is many nationalities, and ethnic groups reside.

Briarwood Residences & Rents
Briarwood mostly consist of one and two-family homes, garden complexes and a few large apartment buildings.  General rents in the area include studio from $650-$800, one bedroom from $800-$1000, and two bedrooms from $1100-$1500.            

Briarwood Transportation & Commuting
In Briarwood you can catch the New York City subway's "F" train which can have you in Midtown in 45 minutes or downtown in 40 minutes.  You can also catch the Long Island Rail Road at nearby Kew Gardens station which can have you in Penn Station in just under 30 minutes.
