Not every roommate situation is going to work perfectly. Different people are bound to have different personalities, and all personalites may not mesh well together in a roommate situation. It's important to not try to change your roommate's personality, just to make reasonable requests. If your roommate is talkative, remind them politely that you need quiet while working. Make sure you make your roommate aware of any issues, and start with the most nagging roommate issue. Bring this up in a nondefensive way; don't drop subtle hints. And remember, there is plenty to gain from living with your opposite; if you don't exercise as much as you like, living with fitness instructor may shake you out of your funk.
